Thanks to your donation we were able to begin the activities with children and families of our community in order to open the doors of our Club de Niños y Niñas in Tecámac/Ecatepec, State of Mexico.
The first activity we made was the presentation of the recruiting and evaluation process to engage 400 children who will enter the Club on february 2019. On August 29th, 30th and 31st, our Operations Officer gathered the families at the Club premises to explain the registration process to be a member of the Club and all the programs and activities that the children will be able to engage in.
On September 5th, we had the Design Day of our Kaboom! project to build the playground at our Club. On this day, 50 children came with their families to draw their preferred designs and proposals of what an ideal Playground will be for them. Later, the Kaboom! team and the parents chose the best games, modules, colors, materials and setup to plan de building of the playground. It was a very important and moving experience, since is the first time we were able to see our future members and their community actively participating in the long-awaited project, in preparation of the beginning operations that will begin very soon.
The construction of our Club is almost finished. It is a building of 4,500 meters, so it took two years and a lot of effort of our fundraising team, and the workand dedication of our engineers, architects and construction workers has been amazing. The main building, with the library, the kitchen / dining room, the administrative offices and the classrooms where the education tutorials and art, music and human development classes will be taught is finished. The exterior fence is also ready, as well as the entrance, the central hallway and stairways. The soccer field, the gym, as well as the auditorium and the teenagers’ building are being completed.
We will open our doors on February 2018, and your contribution will be very well used in the operation of all activities that children will attend, salaries of tutors and teachers, and teaching materials for all programs: academic support, sports, arts, human development, and health and nutrition.
