It’s my pleasure to share an update on how your contributions are impacting life here at Casa Hogar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, which is currently home to 29 full-time residents between the ages of 5 and 16.
We’ve had a strong start to the year. The level of camaraderie and cooperation among our residents has been exceptional for several months now. We’re also seeing an all-time high in positive, mentoring relationships between residents and staff.
This year, we added a second educational assistant to our special-needs program. We’re very encouraged by the progress being made by residents with intellectual disabilities, learning difficulties, or those who are simply behind academically due to inconsistent access to education in their previous home environments. The key to this success lies in building safe, supportive relationships—allowing our residents to co-regulate with caring adults in secure, familiar settings.
In terms of athletics, inline hockey continues to grow in popularity. It’s a growing passion for several teen boys, younger boys, and is now also capturing the interest of some of the girls.
In January, we launched an engaging and educational space-themed learning project, and in March we joyfully celebrated the Quinceañera of one of our girls.
As part of our expanded services at Casa Hogar, a youth community center is currently under construction right next door. It will include an inline hockey rink which, though modest, will be the best of its kind in our state.
Today marks the first day of spring break, and our children and teens have gone on a field trip to a local beach, accompanied by our dedicated frontline team—our Caregivers.
Thank you for your generous contributions to this important program. We’re so grateful for your support and encourage you to share our mission with others.
