Give new pajamas to children in Foster Care!

Thanks to you -- yes, YOU (the person reading this email) -- more than 4,616 PJs have been collected and distributed to children and youth in foster care between January and April, 2021. That is a BIG accomplishment and you should be proud of the role you played to make that possible.

What do new pajamas mean to a child in foster care?  A good night's sleep...the feeling of comfort...owning something new (we leave the price tags on intentionally so that a child can tear off their own tag and know that the pajamas are theirs to own).

Thank you for believing in the children and youth served by Comfort Cases and expressing such generosity. The world's a better place with you in it, and it's a lot brighter for the children you help.

Last September we put out a call to action on GlobalGiving and you responded. Thanks to your support, we secured more than 800 new pajamas for children and youth in foster care! Those pajamas are already in the hands of children in the following locations:

On any given day, there are approximately 437,500 children in foster care in the United States. Most of them are removed from their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs. If they do have any personal belongings, they are given a trash bag in which to carry them.

At Comfort Cases, we believe that every child deserves to feel a sense of dignity.  Every child deserves to pack their belongings in a special bag that they can call their very own. Every child deserves to have a cozy new pair of pajamas, a brand-new warm blanket, and a new stuffed animal to hug during the traumatic transition into foster care.

You see, most children arrive into the foster care system wearing the pajamas they were wearing when separated from their family. New pajamas introduce a fresh start as well as a sense of ownership and security. Tearing off the tag, a small act, allows the child to say that these pajamas are theirs. Sounds simple, perhaps, but ownership is closely linked to self-concept and personal identity.

To say that you changed lives with your gift is an understatement.  More than 800 children and youth sleep better at night and believe in themselves because of you!
