Project Report | Jul 16, 2024
PJ's Matter!

By Heidi Webb, CFRE | Development Specialist

Having their own warm, comfortable new PJs means so much to kids in foster care! Comfort Cases, Inc. is proud to report that 14,784 sets of pajamas have been distributed to children in foster care from January 1 to June 30 of 2024.

Along with other comfort, hygiene and educational items, the PJs contained in Comfort Cases tell these children that they are loved, valued and cared for. Too often, children entering new foster homes are given trash bags in which to carry their things, sending a negative message to these children about their place in their community. Having a few things to call their own as they enter strangers' homes helps these children maintain dignity and hope at a scary time in their lives.

Since its inception, Comfort Cases has served over 250,000 youth in foster care by providing them with Comfort Cases and/or Comfort XL duffels. In 2024, the distribution goals are 45,000 Comfort Cases and 25,000 Comfort XLs.

The organization receives many expressions of thanks and support from partner agencies and from the children it serves. Here are just a couple of examples:

Candice Gabriel of the Children’s Listening Place in Parkersburg, WV said, “The children we serve often come to our center after being removed and they have nothing. When we present them with a Comfort Case, their eyes light up and it brings them joy despite what is happening in their life at the current time. We are so grateful for Comfort Cases.”

Barbara Carlton of Trek Foster Care in Cartersville, GA said, “It is so wonderful to be able to give a child a Comfort Case. I cannot think of a better name for these cases. For just a moment in this time of trauma for these children, a gift to look through and take their little minds off of the situation that they are in.”

We hope you feel incredible about your support, and that you know that thousands of children sleep better at night - because of YOU!
