Her small fingers curl around her cousin’s finger as 19-month-old Zeenat lies in her hospice bed.
Her mother Sumaiya, at her side, little Zeenat is one of the children receiving care at the Mandara Hospice for Children in Hyderabad, India. The children’s hospice – providing care to children with cancer and other complex, life-limiting illnesses – is the first free-standing children’s hospice in India.
It’s a small, but wonderful success story in a country where diagnosis of life-limiting illness comes when children are often in advanced stages. The compassionate and complex care needed goes beyond what can be provided in a hospital setting.
Your support of Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration via GlobalGiving means that healthcare providers are trained in the specialized, compassionate care that these children and their families need.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
