The Power of Play has partnered with Sincere Heart Charitable Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization in Lviv Ukraine, to support children's mental health by building a playground for internally displaced children from the ongoing war in Ukraine.
About 3.7 million people have been forced to flee their homes because of the ongoing war in Ukraine and are currently internally displaced. War and migration have major impacts on children's physical, social and emotional development. Violence, instability, and uncertainty about the future cause long-lasting negative psychological effects and trauma.
The Power of Play will build a playground at the Sincere Heart Foundation in Lviv for the children and mothers to participate in the rehabilitation family camps for psycho-emotional program. The playground will be a significant part of the camps' play and body-oriented therapy. Through play children will have the opportunity to regulate their emotion, process trauma. Children and mothers will have a space to connect with others and experience joy. These are all vital for war survivals.
Play is vital to a child's development. Building a playground for the kids in this community can decrease stress, heal emotional trauma, and foster both imagination and creativity. By using sustainable materials, we will also reduce the environmental impact of the project. Once completed, this playground will be a special place for the children to gain confidence in their abilities, learn to navigate their world, and to rise above their individual challenges.
