Rural Peasants in Haiti Hold a Rebuilding Meeting

To say its been a hectic couple of months in Haiti is an understatement, yet thanks to your generosity families are rebuilding their lives. Pigs have been a critical part of providing relief in Haiti since the earthquake. Over 1/2 a million people migrated to Haiti's rural provinces to live with friends and family. This has put an immense strain on our rural partners, yet in true peasant solidarity- rural peasants have taken in earthquake survivors with open arms.

Lambi Fund partners, like Claudia, have used pigs from their animal husbandry projects to provide valuable protein to hospital patients, or they have sold them in the market to purchase emergency food, water and shelter for survivors.

"Today I know that the pig project with Lambi Fund helped my community provide relief for earthquake survivors,” Claudia said. “I wish all survivors had the gift of a pig. By selling pigs, I was able to provide for 18 friends and family members living in my home after the earthquake. Pigs have allowed me to send my two youngest children to school. I know pigs will help us rebuild. “

Thanks again for your kind generosity, and if possible consider providing a pig for a family that is recovery from Haiti's earthquake. The gift of a pig will help earthquake survivors obtain sustainable incomes.
