On March 8th we celebrated International Women’s Day by inviting 35 of our CRST students, including our sewing ladies to our sewing shop.
We divided the students into groups and assigned tasks for them to do such as cutting shields, liners, cutting string, packing kits and ironing on labels. We took around an hour and half to finish all the tasks because there were so many volunteers!
At 3:30pm, we had another activity. We bought three cakes - two were for sewing ladies and another was for all the girls. For the sewing ladies, as they have never celebrated with a birthday cake before, they were so excited and burst out crying for what we did on International Women’s Day. The other cake was brought by the boys for all girls. That cake represented Empowering, Value, Respect, Support and Caring for all girls around the world.
They were so glad and they felt proud of themselves. We want all girls to be strong, confident, and be able to raise up their voice. Being a girl is so amazing!!
