Partnering for Health

By Maria Teresa Puac V | TRL Fundraising and Communications Coordinator

From Monday, April14th to Tuesday, April16th, the Tu’ik Ruch’ Lew (TRL) team had the honor of participating in the 20th Anniversary Health Fair organized by Hospitalito Atitlán. This vibrant three-day event brought together community members, health professionals, and local organizations to promote health education, offer free checkups, and celebrate two decades of healthcare service in Santiago Atitlán.

As part of the celebration, TRL set up a live demonstration area to showcase our energy-efficient eco-stoves. Visitors to the fair learned how these stoves not only reduce firewood use but also play a vital role in preventing respiratory illnesses caused by smoke inhalation, which particularly affect women and children in our community.

Throughout the fair, our team was on hand to answer questions, demonstrate the stoves' functionality, and engage with families eager to adopt healthier cooking practices. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees were surprised to learn about the long-term health and environmental benefits of switching from traditional open fires to TRL’s clean-burning stoves.

This health fair was a powerful reminder that access to healthcare goes beyond hospital walls—it also means creating healthier homes. We’re proud to collaborate with Hospitalito Atitlán in promoting a more sustainable and healthier future for the people of Santiago Atitlán.

Thank you, GlobalGiving community, for making our outreach and education efforts possible. Your support enables us to continue empowering families with tools for a better life—one stove at a time.
