Va Sreynuch is a 15-year-old girl.
Sreynuch's father has been battling diabetes and heart disease, leaving him unable to work. He requires daily medication to manage his conditions. Meanwhile, her mother works long hours in a factory, earning a small income that barely covers the family's basic needs, let alone the added expenses of her husband's medical care and Sreynuch's education.
"My heart broke when I saw them tired, and I cannot help them," Sreynuch said, her face etched with sadness. "That's why I want to drop school and find a job. I don't know what the job is, I will do it." Despite her parents' efforts to motivate her to continue her studies, Sreynuch felt conflicted, not wanting to add to her family's burdens.
Sreynuch has found immense support and hope through the AusCam Freedom Project. She shared, "I got emergency support, study materials, counseling from AusCam, and it makes me feel related and hopeful," she said, her eyes shining with gratitude.
Empowered by this assistance, Sreynuch has rededicated herself to her studies. She said, "I want to be confident and adaptable." She embraced the extracurricular opportunities offered by AusCam. She attended workshops on OCSE, where she learned how to protect herself and her friends from online exploitation. "I told my friend to lock their profiles because I learn from Change Agents and it’s helpful to prevent OCSE for ourselves," Sreynuch explained.
Sreynuch's classmates have been inspired by her journey. She actively shares what she has learned from AusCam, fostering a supportive environment among her peers.
With the unwavering support of her family and the AusCam Freedom Project, Sreynuch is determined to achieve her goals and inspire others along the way.
