During springtime 2021 we were able to fund with your overwhelming support over $8,000 for provide all the children attending our Campus Day Care Centre with lunch and aftercare.
In August we have successfully completed the set-up phase in consultation with Social Welfare and other Government Departments. Thanks to the overwhelming funds from our supporters during the April Accelerator campaign on GlobalGiving, which has generated just over $8,000 of our overall target of $11,250, we have been busy putting in place everything needed to provide to all children attending our Campus Day Care Centre lunch and aftercare. We have implemented additional wash stations for the children, bought new bed for mid-afternoon rest time, recruited, and trained all the staff (additional teachers, security, cook and volunteers) and implemented a new food management process and arrangements to ensure the children can be safely transported home if required.
Since then, all 56 children at our Day Care Centre got some lunch for free and stayed the whole day benefitting from the after care in the afternoon. The meal we are providing for lunch is a nutritious one with a lot of local ingredients as rice or ugali and seasonal vegetables and fruits. During the after care time our younger children having a little afternoon nap in our facilities with comfortable mattresses and beds. The older ones join a range of outdoor activities, doing arts & crafts or engaging additional education during this time.
On Friday the 10th of December we celebrated the end of the school year 2021 with a graduation day. The children prepared some performances like dances to show it to their parents. During this graduation day we did a ceremony for awarding the best of our students. The parents, the teachers, the staff members of help2kids and the children enjoyed celebrating their school year very much. They praised especially the food our Mama Martha was providing. She is the chef who is cooking for the children every lunch.
During the last weeks we started the registration for the next year. Because we had such a good start this year with our Day Care Centre and this campaign here, we decided to increase the number of children we’ll take for every class. Till today we will have about 75 – 80 children next year on our campus providing from our Day Care Centre. They will all have free lunch and after care thanks to you, our supporters!
Thanks a lot for your support and merry christmas
