Life Skills Training for People with Special Needs: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Growth
The past few months have been an exciting journey of self-discovery and growth for the students of our life skills training program for people with special needs. Through a series of engaging activities, we have empowered our students to develop a deeper understanding of their own potential, and the values that shape their lives.
In December, our students delved deep into the values of kindness, empathy, non-violence, and truthfulness through the power of stories and drama. Through these activities, they learned the importance of cultivating positive values in their lives and how to implement them in their day-to-day interactions. The month concluded with a thought-provoking drama presentation that focused on the value of sticking to dharma (righteousness), and the dangers of greed and pride.
January was a month of learning new concepts, and our students engaged in language and communication, math, environmental awareness, and general awareness. They learned practical skills like taking stock of a shop, billing, and different modes of transportation. These new concepts equipped them with the necessary tools to navigate through the world around them.
When we entered the month of February , it was a time to culminate the learning journey of the entire year with our students' acting and theatre skills showcased on stage. "Vande Mataram" - a tribute to Mother India on her 75th year of independence -it was a highly anticipated event featuring 200 artists with differing abilities. The event showcased the immense talent of our students, and their dedication to honing their craft.
Through this life skills training program, we have witnessed the growth and development of our students. They have learned to cultivate positive values, acquire new practical skills, and showcase their talents with confidence and pride. We are thrilled to have played a part in their journey towards self-discovery and are confident that they will continue to shine in all aspects of their lives.
