3 months Report June to August 2018, Provide Rehabilitation to 500 children in Haiti.
Tous Ensemble (FONTEN) is a Haitian foundation created in 2016. Its mission is "To improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and the general community, through programs that help to achieve the maximum possible level of functionality, independence and autonomy from each person / patient.”
FONTEN provides rehabilitation services to the community of southern Haiti. One of our programs is pediatric patients care, with orthopedic, neurological, muscle skeletal conditions among others.
In the month of June 2018, FONTEN was selected to participate in the GlobalGiving "Accelerator", in 18 days more than 17,000 USD were raised from approximately 90 donors from all over the world.
This founds have allowed to continue provide therapy and other services during this time. From June to August FONTEN provide 900 sessions to children, with an average of 300 children per month, 141 clubfoot attentions, 3 educational sessions for parents of children with disabilities were carried out in the rehabilitation center, 54 orthopedic devices were manufactured and 1 prostheses for children.
We want to share the story of Roseme. She is a little girl, 10 years old, amputated in 2017 because she presented a congenital malformation on her right leg, which did not allow the use of prostheses. In 2017, FONTEN together with Hope for Haiti managed a free surgery so that Rosemene could have a suitable stump to use prosthesis. After several months of therapy, the stump and Roseme are ready to have a prosthesis, which was manufactured during the month of August. Thanks to this, she is able to walk without crutches and carry out a normal life like the rest of the children of her age.
