We're happy to report that our most recent project—providing a new roof for our Lombok clinic is over half-way to being funded! This project was the focus of our recent #GivingTuesday campaign on GlobalGiving in November. We raised $9753 from 63 unique donors in 24 short hours and GlobalGiving's Move a Million Fund matched $3,273 for a total of $13,026. This takes us more than half-way to our ultimate goal of $23,600.
The roof on our Lombok clinic is in poor condition, leaking and needs to be replaced urgently. This will ensure the safety and health of our Lombok patients, their families and our staff. Leaking roofs can create electrical problems and can degrade the rest of the building with moisture, mold and rot getting into the clinic building itself.
Ironically, on #GivingTuesday, Lombok experienced torrential rains with the onset of the monsoon season in Indonesia. Our clinic director, Ibu Budi, sent us photos showing the new damage from the most recent water damage. We're attaching them here so you can see for yourself how urgent the situation is.
With your continued support, we'll reach our goal and be able to replace the roof. While this rainy season will continue to do damage, by the time the next one rolls, we're confident the new roof will be in place and stop this kind of damage from happening to the clinic building.
Thanks for your continued support—and love!
With love and gratitude
Ibu Robin and Team Bumi Lombok
