We're at the half way point for project funding!

By Team Bumi Lombok | Project Leaders

We've reached 51.25% of our funding goal. This means we're at the half-way point for funding the Lombok clinic project. (Technically, we're just past the halfway point.)

Having a new roof protects the Lombok clinic building so it stays intact and doesn't get damaged. This also ensures, in the long term, that the clinic building itself doesn't need to be replaced, which is a far greater cost.

This is a good time to look back at how the Lombok clinic started.

On 5 August 2018, Lombok was rocked by a 6.9 quake with an epicenter in North Lombok. Over 80% of structures in the area were damaged, while 563 people were killed, over 1,000 people injured and approximately 417,000 people were displaced.

Ibu Budi, a senior midwife who formerly managed the Bali clinic, rushed to the area with a small team of burses and midwives from Bali. They initially started offering health and birth services in tents until a permanent clinic could be built. Once the clinic was finished, patients could be treated in the new facility. Ibu Budi recruited a permanent team of nurses and midwives which in 2024 treated 5664 general patients, delivered 288 prenatal checkups and delivered 20 babies.

When the clinic roof started leaking, due to poor construction and sub-par materials, Bumi Sehat Lombok was fored to borrow the money to pay for a new roof. By taking proactive steps, we have ensured the safety and health of our patients, their families and our staff. Now Bumi Lombok must fundraise to repay the loan as the funds can't be taken out of their small budget.

Thanks to your continued support, Bumi Lombok is slowly reaching their goal!

Love and Blessings,

Ibu Robin and Team Bumi Lombok
