Dear FWA donor,
The next major step for the development of the Ntaseka Clinic of the Friends Women's Association is to build a maternity ward. The major purpose of this building is to have a place for HIV+ women to give birth in a professional, safe place where the mother will not transmit her infection to the new born baby. The clinic has bought a plot of land behind the clinic so the site is available. The clinic already has 150 young women of average age of 24 years old who are receiving anti-retroviral drugs to control their HIV+ status. The number of HIV+ women being served continues to increase each month. Many of these will give birth. These women and others in the community will be the beneficiaries of the new maternity ward.
See attached picture where Parfaite is standing on the site.
The building will cost $52,840. The Vancouver Island Monthly Meeting (Quakers) has donated $20,000 to start the project. The remaining funds need to be raised.
GlobalGiving has just approved the project to continue fundraising for the maternity ward. We have set a goal of $10,000, but can increase it when we have raised this amount.
As a donor to the Friends Women's Association, please consider donating to this project. For details on the project and to donate, go to http://goto.gg/32980.
In addition please notify your friends, family, and others who might be interested in donating towards the construction of FWA's maternity ward.
We appreciate you support.
