Thanks to your generosity, Global Water Challenge and women for water are supporting Rede Asta’s Mascara Mais Renda (Masks + Income) initiative to provide masks to high need communities and empower women artisans across Brazil.
Together, we are producing 28,500 fabric face masks and empowering women artisans through mask production. The artisans will receive a stipend for their work and participate in Rede Asta's Artisan Business School 3-month program to learn the skills to develop their own businesses.
So far, the artisans have received the materials to sew the masks and are hard at work! They will begin distributing the masks in February to low-income communities in need of personal protective equipment (PPE) as a first line of defense against COVID-19. With COVID-19 cases surging across Brazil and the rest of the world, this project is more important than ever!
Again, thank you for your support! Because of you, we are able to provide masks to Brazilians who need it most and life-changing training to women artisans.
Follow women for water’s journey to empower women and girls across 10,000 communities with access to WASH and life skills programs by 2030 on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook! You can also learn more about Rede Asta’s work here.
