Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for being on this journey with us. We continue to assist Association Saint-Camille (ASC) secure medications. They have escalated in price due to shortages of medications as experienced in many locations. ASC orders medications every 2-3 months costing nearly $170,000 USD. ASC continues to run businesses that serve as rehabilitative work experience for recovered patients, including a farm, bakery, and craft making. A new farm is in the planning stages to provide income. Nominal patient fees for those who can afford to pay are helpful; but true to ASC's mission, care is not denied to anyone.
We have recently completed an application for donated medications and we hope to have an update on that process soon. Donated medications will alleviate much of this burden, but not all of it. Not all medications will be available when requested and some types are not allowed as donations.
Medical consultants are again traveling to ASC to lend their expertise where requested. We have been successful in recruiting US American volunteers to visit and will report to you on their experiences soon.
Your care and concern for those we serve in West Africa is very much appreciated.
