By Sriyantha Perera | Settlor, Rainforest Protectors Trust
Past couple of months Rainforest Protectors Trust has been in negotiations with sellers of several privately held forest lands in the buffer zone of Sinharaja World Heritage Rainforest in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts we were not able to raise the required funds to protect 5 acres of private forest pictured here, which has been sold to a different party and currently in the process of been clearcut to grow tea.
We are now urgently fundraising to purchase a remaining 1.5 acre land directly bordering Sinharaja rainforest which we believe is suitable for our Rainforest Conservation and Education Center.
Saving these last remaining tracts of tropical rainforest is crucial to ensure the success of creating a contiguous protected buffer zone which will be regularly monitored and protected by Rainforest Guardians. Success of our projects depend on supporters like you, and we hope you will continue to donate and encourage others to do so. In the years ahead, you can look back and feel happy for your contribution to make the planet a better place for all living things.
Please consider making a donation or becoming a member and help save these last remaining pristine rainforests for future generations!
