During last year, MBF’s long-term partner Alternare and the local communities focused their workshops on the importance of forest and water conservation. In the last month of the year and during the first trimester of 2025 they held five workshops with 55 people participating. As a result, two fuel-efficient stoves, three cisterns to capture rainwater and one latrine were built.
Water scarcity among the communities has become a pressing issue and highlights the importance of conducting conservation workshops to address it. That’s why we were happy to hear from one woman from the Cresencio Morales indigenous community tell us, “We live in a place were nature is very pretty and there are lots of creatures like the monarch butterfly, that’s why we have to take care of the forest and the water. Every little drop counts.”
This year Alternare will continue supporting the local communities, training more instructors so they can share their knowledge and spread the information and knowledge with many more communities. MBF is very pleased to be Alternare’s partner and be able to support the empowerment of people as well as increasing efforts to conserve and manage water resources.
