This year, we had a very special adoption a year in the making. Gordon Ramsey, a feisty senior chihuahua found his forever home! Gordon - or "Gordie" as he wags his tail when he hears, was dropped off at Memphis Animal Services in 2023 for an unknown reason, but we have made our assumptions. Gordie potentially did not get the name Gordon Ramsey without it being quite fitting. The thing was - he was 14 lbs in a big world. He is a nervous fella who found himself in a loud shelter where he claims he was man handled (its true - he was neutered, and we are not sure he has truly forgiven the world for this.) Gordon was a feisty fella who simply wanted people to ask before he was touched. He came into rescue and was doing well, until his eye sight started to fail.... and then his humans weren't around so much.... and he was truly overwhelmed. Gordon needed a quiet home with someone who understood him. Over a year after first being rescued from "the list," Gordon found the person who would truly understand him. Someone who knew he needed a wide birth and that he would do all on his time.... He quite enjoys walks - but if you try to push him even a little bit, his 14 lb self becomes an anchor.
Gordie has subscribed to the "New Year, New Home" mentality and is teaching his understanding human exactly what he is in need of (which includes prozac and enrichment of nose work in finding kibbles around the kitchen).
Happy life little Gordie.
