Thanks to your donations, our new school liaisons are visiting this school on a regular basis. These Afghan women are a great asset to us because they can overcome the language, cultural and security issues that sometimes make it difficult to communicate with the staff, students, parents and other community members.
The liaisons report that the second class of girls will graduate from this school in July. The graduating classes are small because so few girls in this area have had sufficient time to complete school. But there are thousands behind them. The school operates on 2 shifts, filling 24 classrooms in the morning and all 30 rooms in the afternoon -- with an overflow sitting outside. The teachers have asked for tents. They also have indicated strong interests in a computer center, kindergarten and playground set. Our computer centers have been a great success at other girl schools, so we look forward to the opportunity to build one here.
The Safer World Fund continues to provide a 50% match until their funds run out--but they are almost out! Under $2,000 in matching funds left. Don't miss your chance!
Thank you so much for your support
