St Martins School - Saturday Feeding Program

By Alfred M Aswani | Project Liaison

Greetings from St. Martins school and the community here at Kibagare. It is our hope that all is well with you, our loved ones, teams, and colleagues.

Here at school and in Nairobi, we are all well and we are in the third and final term of this calendar year. So far so good and we are looking forward to a good term.

The rains have been good this ear and this has helped improve our food situation though inflation is still high, especially the energy costs which are a key driver of the economy.

We have continued to feed the children from the Kibagare community every Weekend. For most of the children that attend our weekend feeding program, a good number of them have no guarantee of a meal when they are out of school. Poverty and a lack of employment is still a challenge for most families within Kibagare.

In these times, the most affected are the children and we are grateful that we play a critical role in making the lives of the children here easier because without food some may be forced out of school or into the streets as has been the case before.

With the support we have received from Jul to date, we have been able to feed 6, 963 children. We are grateful for the support and we hope to continue doing the much we can as a school in the best interest of the children from this community.

The weekend feeding program is still on and will continue for the period the children are in school. We are feeding between 1300 and 1400 children every weekend.

Thank you for your continued support. We will keep ou updated on our progress.

Best regards,

Alfred Aswan,

program Liaison.
