St Martins School - Saturday Feeding Program

By Alfred Muheria Aswani | Project Liaison

Greetings from St Martins School and Kibagare Community.

We hope that you are having a good time in your respective countries.

We have been able to continue feeding the children from Kibagare and surrounding slums since our last update in May. School resumed on the 13th of May 2024 and we held the weekend feeding program on the 18th of May. We had two weekend feeding programs in May, 3 in June, 3 in July and as of today for September we have had two successful weekend feeding programs and we hope to do more as September progresses.

In June and July, we were also lucky to host 22 volunteers from the Tenth Revolution group, 22 volunteers from Salesforce and friends, and four volunteers from Empowering Young Women who visited our school and were able to take part in the weekend feeding program.

During May, June, July, and September, we served 13,374 children from Kibagare Slum and surrounding slums. Through the support that we receive and continue to receive towards the weekend feeding program, we feed the many children who would otherwise miss a meal during the weekend due to poverty, food shortages, and many challenges while they are out of school.

School is still on and we are in the third term of the current school calendar year. We will continue with the feeding of the children in October until when we close the school in November.

We are grateful for the support we receive and continue to receive towards this cause, feel appreciated, Thank you.

Alfred Aswan.
