Save a new life by supporting pregnant woman

Because otherwise it would be one or the other, prolonged treatment and high risk. I am overflowed with emotions.. I didn't know where to go anymore, I couldn't find any way out, even move from one place to another. Everything seemed upside down, rolling down where you won't see light anymore. It seemed that everything will only get harder, where I can't bear the burden...And this help from your Centre - it's just a miracle, God's grace!

It‘s so comforting to see how really difficult situations can change if only we help each other. First of all if we find strength to apply for the help.

Help provided during 4 months:

• 125 new people and about 50 people that get continuous help, got help in our Centre;
• 19 babies were born to women who got help at the Centre.
• 635 different consultations were provided to women;
• 340 consultations provided were psychosocial (emotional and material/financial support);
• there were 205 psychological counselling sessions;
• 30 doula consultations were provided;
• women had 10 gynaecologist examinations;
• 51 other consultations (psychiatrists, lawyers, geneticist, “buddies”);
• Material help provided: Centre delivered 19 baby layettes, 13 baby strollers, 5 baby beds, 5761 pieces of diapers, 2 packs of formula milk, more than 118 sets of clothes for babies and mothers, and lots of hygiene items (358 pcs);
• 9 women received regular financial help. Over 1700 euros in total financial assistance was provided (to cover their living, medical expenses, to buy food).

Self-help groups:

• Currently we are having 3 different groups for women after delivery: 1 for those who are facing postpartum depression and 2 groups are intended for those women who are currently not facing a very emotional time but still have many topics to discuss about motherhood. It’s for the prevention of postpartum depression. Totally 17 women attend those groups.
• We also have a group for women facing miscarriage. 11 women attending the group.
• 1 group for women facing crisis pregnancy. 6-10 women are attending.
• And we are having 2 dance therapy groups for women after giving birth.

On 14^th of October we had Centre’s 10 year anniversary! We had cozy celebration with volunteers, partners, employees.

We are happy to announce that during those 10 years of work we helped more than 3000 people, provided 15600 free of charge different kinds of consultations. We know that 620 babies were born to women who got help at our Centre. We also published a book of 30 different stories of women who got help at our Centre. Those who were suffering crisis pregnancies and later gave birth, those after miscarriages, after abortions, stories of those whose beginning of motherhood was difficult – suffered postpartum depressions. We want this book to be read by specialists who are dealing with this target group, so that specialists could be more sensitive to women in difficult situations. The book is also intended for women – to read stories of other women who had difficult times, in order we could relate to each other, because there are lots of women who went through similar situations.

Short passage from the book:

„Many would say that I became a mother way too early, but I know that I became one at the right time. A new life knocked into my life when I was only 14 years old. It would be too mild to say that it was a shock. It just took my breath away, the world collapsed, it seemed that I could no longer think. I lived with this news alone for two months. Only the partner knew, and he was uncomfortable talking about it. And one day, an awkward conversation turned into violence... I was alone, a small, scared girl. I felt like the biggest shame in the world, and I had no idea how I would find a place in it... I didn't want to fall asleep and wake up after falling asleep. I refused to go anywhere and get out of bed. On my hand I drew a small bean that I saw living inside me, because I knew that after the abortion I would have nothing left but that picture. The life growing in me will be erased and no one will ever know. I couldn't even accept the thought that a child would be born. It seemed astronautically unrealistic and impossible to me. But with each passing day I realized that I don't want an abortion either. There seemed to be no right solution…“

The story ended that this young brave woman told her mother about her situation, mother supported her, later they both applied to Centre, got help and finally she gave birth to a wonderful girl. This year young woman graduated school and started studying Multimedia and visual communications. She bravely share her story with others and is a real inspiration! You can see a picture of her.
