Save a new life by supporting pregnant woman

We would like to sincerely thank you for your help that you are providing every month. This help to women that are in very vulnerable situations – psychological or financial is essential and life changing. When a woman finds out that she is pregnant and if she doesn’t have support from her close people, she feels very unsecure and extremely lonely. It is very important to encourage her to find a safe relationship, to find assurance that she has at least one person to share her thoughts and hard feelings. We are fortunate to see how women change when they are cared and listened to.

„I didn't think I would ever have children again, much less that I would be sad, lost, and stressed while pregnant. My son Jonukas is now 5.5 months old. And I'm happy, I feel much better than when I was expecting and for the first two months after giving birth. Now I have more strength, more knowledge, more hope and confidence.

I want to thank the Crisis Pregnancy Center for their help, understanding and support. I am grateful to Ruta for understanding and knowing what I need and what I will need, when I had no idea about it myself. Thanks to Justina for the support and relaxing massage when stress was torturing my mind and body. Thanks to doula Aušra for her calm explanation and advice about childbirth and for helping me solve breastfeeding failures. Thanks to psychologist Ruta for leading women's support groups. It was good to be in a circle of women, to feel understanding and support. Thanks to the lactation consultant Monika, her advice was very useful. Thank you to the entire team of the Crisis Pregnancy Center for being there for us. Your work is very important and really needed in every city and town..“

Quite often we receive calls from women (or their close ones) who suffer postnatal depressions or because of the miscarriages. Providing psychological help to them is crucial.

During past 4 months we had 85 new people who applied for the help at our Centre.Totally 331 different consultations were provided to them. These were women who sought help in their despair while pregnant, after birth or baby loss. We got news about 13 babies born to women who got help at our Centre. It‘s always such a joy to get such news!

Help provided:

• 331 different consultations were provided to women;
• 142 of consultations provided were psychosocial (emotional and material/financial support);
• There were 170 psychological counselling sessions;
• 10 doula consultations were provided and 4 women had gynecologist examinations;
• There were 9 other consultations (psychiatrists, lawyers, geneticist, “buddies”);
•  Material help provided: Centre delivered 8 baby layettes, 10 baby strollers, 2 baby beds, 2418 pieces of diapers, 17 packs of formula milk, more than 55 sets of clothes for babies and mothers, and lots of hygiene items (190 pcs);
• Every month 5 women received regular financial help. Totally 9 different women were given financial help (4 women irregular). During those 4 months over 1605 euros in total of financial assistance was provided (to cover their living, medical expenses, to buy food).

Events:

Every year we organize volunteer and employee training. This year we also had this event and were concentrating on 3 themes – „Specifics of counseling women with mental problems. Dilemmic situations“, „Metaphorical associative cards as an aid for counseling“ and „Systematic understanding of personal and family processes in the context of bereavement trauma and its impact on the person, family, relatives, and society“. Those training days are very important – we both have a great opportunity for comprehensive discussions about dilemic cases and learn new techniques that are useful for consulting women.
