Donate trees to help impoverished families in Peru

After one year and half project:

- Participation

The participation goal of 60% was reach during the three contests. 415 families of 6 rural communities are part od the project.

- Households and health 

An increase in adoption and improvement of the practices is evident, 60% families have houses with plastered walls, separate rooms for cooking, living and raising guinea pigs, and chimneys to remove the smoke.Improving homes has a significant impact on family health. Smoke-free kitchens reduce the incidence of lung disease, especially for women who do most of the cooking.

- Businesses

Families are working hard to improve their alpaca businesses. While the animals can thrive in difficult locations, often the pasture has been degraded over time from open grazing. Improved pasture practices and rotational grazing that allows the grasses to rest are making  a difference in th equality and quantity of animals that can be raised, increasing incomes for families.

Around the district, guinea pig businesses is starting. Families build new sheds, implementing it  with medicines, watering systems and improved pastures.

- Afforestation

Despite the hard environment conditions 63 000 trees were planted during the three contests. 80% of the families planted trees and 35 % have a familiar nursery
