Hello Friends, Flood situation in Kisumu Kenya improves because it stopped raining but the effects are still adverse. we have the people whose houses got destroyed and needed to be rebuilt.
JWF has been partnering with friends to help give a decent cheap houses to the 50 affected persons. We are currently at house number 15 still 35 short of our target.
We still appeal for more support to enable us save more lives. When you help construct a house, you help to protect families from exposure to water borne diseases, Pneumonia and many more diseases. Let's all join hands.

Building Hope to the Hopeless people
By James Oyugi Were | Founder/Director
Flooding has been an annual disaster that occurs in Kisumu Kano plain where Nyalenda slums lies. It something that has gone for several years and the government has not come with a lasting solution to help it's people. Whenever it rains heavily property are being destroyed, washed away and houses destroyed.
JW foundation has come up with several mitigation strategies that have seen members of the Nyalenda community get newly built houses. So far we have constructed a total of 5 houses but our target is 50 houses. Our fear is that if the rains again then we may have more houses destroyed and hence will increase our budget and target. A simple house costs US$1000 with all windows and doors fixed.
We still believe that with more friends and partners we shall be able to overcome and meet our objectives. JW foundation is still open in doing all the numbers has per indicated on their proposal.
We kindly request for prayers and support to enable us achieve this noble goal. Together we shall get there.

Progress report on housing floodSurvibord
By James Oyugi Were | Founder/Director
Kapuothe Village is one of the villages within Nyalenda slum within Kisumu county-Kenya. It is a place where most houses are made by mud. They are mud walled, with no good roads and drainage. Our people who resides here are faced with myriad of challenges when it rains.
It took the intervention of friends and organizations such as James Were foundation last year when it rained continuously destroying peoples houses and property. JWF came in to help in the mobilization of resources in helping fix few houses. Our main objective is fixing 50 houses for the flood survivors while we have only managed to a single house.
We are still faced with a big challenge of resource mobilization, we still need to do 49 more houses to realize our goals. The rains are almost back before we fix the remaining 49 while we fear that more houses will still be prone to destruction. Our long term goal will be to open and dredge the rivers around to help in controlling the floods.
The intention of rebuilding the houses and fixing the mess still a hig priority for JWF. We therefore still plead with our friends, partners to come in and help bridge the gap. We value your support and care. Our deserving and inderpriviledged people who live below a dollar a day deserves a better and safe life....better and safe life can only be achieved with your aupport.
May God bless you as we look foward to more partnership. God bless you abundantly.
