Child and Family Foundation Uganda (CFU) and together with the entire staff as a team are delighted to share the second report of SAVING LIVES AT BIRTH IN KAWEMPE AMIDST COVID-19 at https://goto.gg/53903.
Background.
The purpose of this document is to provide a brief overview of the fundraising activity for the procurement of an ambulance for the saving lives at birth project at Child and Family Foundation Uganda (CFU). CFU seeks additional support on improving the referral and transportation of mothers with complications and sick newborns, including linkage to health facilities in the Kampala district.
In the last quarter, we have held meetings to continue with mobilizing funds locally within Kawempe division. We have held monthly meetings and devised a work plan that will help us get the word out. In the process, we identified about seven local companies to contact and engage them regarding their role in corporate social responsibility within the Kawempe division. Some of the companies identified included Airtel, Regal paint, Reham, and Equity Bank. CFU staff who are the foot soldiers of this message were identified and a talking point template was shared.
Some of the approaches identified were to engage the Kawempe division leaders where we presented this activity so that we get buy-in and support in mobilizing health facilities to work with.

CFU has supported the referral of children and mothers during this period. We have used bodabodas (motorcycle), personal vehicles to refer five (5) mothers who had failed to deliver in lower centers particularly CFU medical to higher centers (Kawempe Hospital). One client was transported by a private ambulance after laboring for two days and the baby developed asphyxia.
Our new year plan will include;
a) Sharing the data center profile and the project summary to friends and family.
b) Sharing the project summary on to the different websites and other social media platforms and mobilizing to enable us to acquire the gargets over time.
c) Conduct our weekly meetings on Thursdays to review performance.
d) To identify support transport mothers who have developed complications from communities and lower-level facilities to tertiary health facilities, in good time and save lives at birth. Support our project at https://goto.gg/53903 to enable us to reach all pregnant women in Kawempe with likely poor outcomes.
