On behalf of CFU, I am taking the privilege to thank you all for your generous support and help provide under the project “Saving lives at birth in Kawempe”
In this last quarter at CFU Medical Centre, we had 11 mothers who were attending antenatal care at our facility. Out of the 11, 1 was in her 1st trimester, 4 of them in their 2nd trimester, and six were in the third trimester.
Of all six mothers who were in their 3rd trimester gave birth, 5 of them it was a normal delivery and only one was for cesarean section.
The one for the cesarean section had twins with a malpresentation. For this mother, it was her first time giving birth. She was so worried and scared thinking that she will not make it. But when she came to the facility our trained and skilled nurses took her through the entire process of labor. That is the presentation of pain, true signs of labor, exercise, and feeding. The cesarean section was safely done and she gave birth to twins. The mother and the baby boys are doing well.
BABY GENESIS
Another mother came to our facility when she was so stressed and fearful to give birth because of her past history, this was her 3rd pregnancy. It was very unfortunate that her firstborn got cerebral palsy which was caused due fetal distress. The secondborn died a few minutes after they were born. She kept on asking the nurses “Will my child be okay without complications?” She was helped by the nurses and she delivered normally and safely to a bouncing baby boy. On seeing the baby, she said ‘’onelabiza ennaku’’ meaning that the CFU nurse helped her forget her sadness and she named her child Genesis implying a new start.
