Saving lives at birth

By harriet babikako | Project Lead

In the last period, we had several clinics that supported mothers to have an wonderful experience at both. Some of the clinics included.

ANTENATAL CLINIC

In this first quarter, we had a total of 11 antenatal mothers of which 5 of them were new attendances and 6 were continuing mothers.

MATERNITY CLINIC

In the month of January, we had 3 deliveries, 2 C/S, and 1 SVD whereas in February we had 2 mothers for SVD and none in March. The mothers who got a C/S had children who were getting tired and distressed. The solution to delivering them by cesarean supported the life at birth. These babies were resuscitated to enable them to breathe at birth.

IMMUNISATION CLINIC

The immunization clinic is doing quite well. It is an intervention to those that have just been delivered in order to support life at birth.

 POSTNATAL CLINIC

The number of mothers for postnatal mostly depends on the number of mothers that bring their children for immunization. However, some of them send their maids with the babies, while others failed to do the required post-natal tests, citing the lack of funds.

  FAMILY PLANNING CLINNIC.

The numbers are still very low and this may be due to poor marketing of our services and the prices of the long-term family planning methods have also led to low numbers or low turn-up, considering the facilities around are issuing the same service at a lower or no cost.

OTHER SERVICES

OUTREACH SERVICES; we carried out 4 outreaches in different communities around us and the response was encouraging.

DRUGS; these are well dispensed, the stock in and out is well documented and inventory is well managed. However, we find a challenge of drugs expiring on the shelves due to low patients turn up (special cases).
