Project Report | Dec 11, 2024
A chance to live and a new purpose

By Lola Fernandez | General Director

Diego, a 16-year-old passionate about football, collapsed during a game due to a cardiac arrest.

Thanks to the swift action of medical personnel and the specialized doctors, nurses and equipment provided by the Kardias Program at the Instituto Nacional de Pediatría (public hospital), he received life-saving care. This could only be done thanks to the continuos support of our donors.

Diego underwent a procedure that saved his life and gave him the chance for a healthy future. Today, at 17, he is finishing high school and has shifted his focus from professional football to studying physiotherapy to help athletes care for their bodies.

Diego is deeply grateful, and he credits the Kardias Program for his second chance. “Thanks to Kardias, I’m here today,” he says. “They not only gave me my life back; they gave me a new purpose.”

Diego is living testament to the life-changing impact of the donations that make such programs possible.
