Project Report | Apr 20, 2025
2025 First Quarter News Letter

By Leela Singaram Champ | Founder & Executive Director

Our challenges on the ground working at grassroots level in the poverty stricken areas of Lusaka, is actually our best teacher ! It motivates us not only to find solutions but improve and excel.

2025 started with the new intake of Grade 1 students who have not been schooled prior to this. Unlike children from the upper and middle class of society who would have gone to kindergarten or preschool, practically all our Grade 1s begin by writing their first alphabet at TOSF School for OVC. You can find out more about our stringent intake process, in the News Letter attached.

Other events that you can read more about are: Women's Day, Youth Day, Valentine's Day and Mufti Day.

There was more then 90% turnout of parents/guardians who came to collect Report Cards at the end of First  Term assessment. This invested interest in their children's education motivates the teaches to give their best because in such impoverished communities the fundamental issues of finding employment and providing basic needs like food is their first priority. Having taken the time and effort to discuss with the teachers their children's progress, shows that they appreciate and see the value of quality education provided free by TOSF. Some children as well as parents walk more then 6 kms daily to attend school at George Compund which is in the shanty town of Matero, one of the poorest areas in the outskirts of the capital city Lusaka.

Dear Sponsors without your generous contributions The Other Side Foundation would not have come this far. Kindly take time to read through our First Quarter News Letter which amplifies your continuous support. The orphans and vulnerable children, their grandmothers who take care of these orphans and the single mothers and widows strive on in life because of your donations. THANK YOU
