After COVID-19, ADWAN is mainly focusing on Economic empowerment through on-farm and off-farm activities of women to ensure their livelihood and girls' education. Education is a social process aimed at performing different vital functions in society. ADWAN believe, girls' education play a significant role in the development process from family to and set-up livelihood of their family in future. We also realizing the educated girls are contributing to building the nation from the grassroots level. Learning of ADWAN; 'girls' education is reducing early age marriage and women’s pregnancy rates, child mortality rates and lower maternal mortality rates. Realizing the significance of education. So, ADWAN has been investing from its earlier phase to girls' education and continue.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all our donors for giving the light of hope to poor, needy girls from the remote areas of Nepal. In Nepal, only 1 in 5 women can read and write. Sending girls to school is a last priority in these rural, marginalized communities, where people have lived hand to mouth for generations.
To date, ADWAN’s GlobalGiving campaign has raised $8,653 of its $20,000 goal to send 100 deserving girls to high school. These funds support schooling for 43 girls; but $11,347 remains to be raised for the 57 deserving girls still waiting to receive funds to attend high school. Some of the supported girls graduated secondary level and joined government jobs in rural areas and some are engaging as school teachers and some are pursuing their higher degree.
For your kind information, 57 targeted girls are waiting for your support and you can help them by donating again at https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/send-50-girls-to-high-school-in-nepal and share this link with your family, friends and relatives around the nation and internationally. It's a small-scale support but that will make a big impact in the lives of many poor girls in rural Nepal.
We at ADWAN express profound gratitude for the consistent and generous support from kind-hearted people like you. Together, in partnership, we will continue to be an agent of change for Dalit as well as other marginalized, poor women and children in Nepal.
