Project Report | Jul 3, 2014
You made it happen!

By Karen Wienberg | Project Leader

Thank you so very very much. Your action and generosity during the June Challenge has ensured us a permanent place on Global Giving Org. and we will be able to provide US Tax receipts through this site, as well as the Canadian tax receipts through Little Footprints Big Steps's website (www.littlefootprintsbigsteps.com).

During the month of June Challenge we aimed toward a target of $5000.00 to be able to support the basic school costs of 50 children. We actually have 131 children - many that we have rescued over the past two and a half years - others who are their siblings, as we find their families and reunite them. We will continue with this education project, with our new target of $10,000.00 to ensure that we have sufficient funds to support the critical, basic schooling costs for all of the children.

I will provide regular reports and updates with report card progress of the children, insights of those working with the children, new photos. When school started last fall, many of the children we support had never attended school before. Where some of the schools were reticent to accept the former slaves and street children, some feedback we received from a school principal included: “he is the best of all students...he always listens when we speak about morals, and his uniform is always clean, and he tries very hard." Many of these first time learners finished their first school year at the top of their class.

The pride and achievement of realized in the chance to learn, have a meal, a uniform changes a child and a family. The opportunity to have an education, can change the future.

Thank you so much for your support, and please continue to share the site and information.
