Progress Report

By Amna Hassan Kazmi | CEO

The Shed Library project, a collaboration with the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), aims to create a dedicated space for children’s learning and development within a community park. This progressive report outlines the latest developments in the project, following approval from the Director General of PHA.  The final design for the shed library has been approved by the Director General (DG) of PHA, marking a significant step forward in the project. This approval enables the engineering team to proceed with the next stages of planning and construction. Based on directives from the DG, the Director of Engineering has been instructed to commence the tender process for construction. This phase is expected to take approximately 20-25 days, after which the chosen contractor will be confirmed. The construction is expected to start shortly after the completion of the tender process. It is anticipated that the entire construction phase will be completed by the end of October 2024, subject to no unforeseen delays. During this period, PHA has committed to providing mid-construction updates, allowing for the initiation of interior work once the main structure is complete. The project team will coordinate with the PHA to begin interior design and furnishing of the shed library once the main construction reaches an advanced stage. This will ensure timely completion of the library as per the projected timeline. The project budget has been re-shared with PHA representatives for review and clarity. A detailed breakdown of costs will continue to be monitored to ensure that the project stays within the approved budget limits. Regular communication will be maintained with the Director of Engineering and the PHA team to monitor progress and address any challenges that arise during the construction phase. Periodic site visits may be conducted to oversee the work and ensure that the design and quality standards are being adhered to. The Shed Library project is progressing as planned, with key approvals secured and the tender process underway. We remain on track for the completion of construction by the end of October 2024. This project will create a valuable resource for the community, particularly for children, and will provide a space for learning and engagement for years to come.
