In 2023, our Community Outreach team has been hard at work, spreading awareness and teaching in the areas surrounding our Community Care Centers. There have been a total of 522 in attendance across the 21 training events that we have held between January and June of this year.
Here is a testimonial from one of the recent graduates of our Disability Advocacy Training:
“My name is Catherine, I thank God for Special Hope Network for this wonderful training with the Community Outreach team! Before this training with Special Hope, I used to love children with disabilities but honestly not really that much. I used to feel bad as I was not wanting to be close to them because I thought it was a disease that I could get. But now through the training I am able to be close and play with them because I now know that it's a condition which is caused by damage to the brain. These children with intellectual disability are like any other child but they are just slow in terms of learning and development.”
This is just one of the countless stories of the awareness and acceptance that is coming through our Community Outreach program. Thank you for being a part of creating a world for children with intellectual disabilities. Together, we are making an impact for families in Lusaka, Zambia.
