Water Compass technical staff and our friends at TGS Water spent Febraury 11-12 conducting a geophyscial survey in the community of Mbirizi to identify an appropriate location to drill a new borehole. The process involves making Vertical Electical Soundings (VES) to assess resistivty in the geology below. This helps to identify anomilies and where water is likely to be found. Two recommended locations were identified for drilling a new borehole. Once fundraising for the project is complete, Water Compass will drill the borehole and it will hopefully have enough water to meet demand and expand our solar-powered water supply system!
