Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Friendly match between Community Coaches and Karachi United Amateur (A) team
A friendly match was held between the Karachi United Community Center coaches and KU's A team on 5th May 2018. While players from both teams belonged to different backgrounds and ethnicities, our objective to hold a friendly match was to help eliminate such barriers and provide a platform for the coaches to interact with each other so as to instill the same values in our community centers.
PGF Series Organized by Creek Club:
PGF series, a platform for the talented youth of Pakistan commenced its season 9 from the 7th of July 2018. The week long competition hosted more than 150 teams from the professional, U16 and U13 categories as well as the women with the sole aim to provide opportunities for the masses of Pakistan.
Karachi United's Academy teams participated in the U13 and U16 categories respectively. The U16 category had 44 teams with teams placed in groups followed by the knockout stages, where the U14 lost out in the quarterfinals.
The U12 team had a successful spell in the tournament going all the way to the final in a 32 team tournament with teams placed in group stages followed by knockouts. The team lost out in the final gaining valuable tournament experience.
Lyari And Orangi Town Girls participated PFF event at Lahore (Shalila Baloch U-16 Women Football Championship 2018: Our top talented 17 players from the Lyari and Orangi Town centers selected and participated in girls tournament (Shalila Baloch U-16 Women Football Championship 2018) in Lahore which was organized by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). The tournament commenced on 22nd June and ended on 4th July 2018. The purpose of this event was give the equal opportunity to females to participate at national level and ofcourse later on an international platfom. 7 players from Karachi United have been selected for the national camp where the girls will then represent the country.
Karachi United Inter Community Futsal Tournament
Karachi United, Orangi Town Centre had organized KU Inter Academy futsal tournament. Objective of this tournament was promoting football in a safe and professional environment and harness the very best sporting talent in the city, also community engagement through football. All KU Centers and four other academies participated in this tournament.
US Consulate General – Football Event
US Consulate General invited 50 players including girls for Sports Diplomacy event with Sports preventatives. This event happened on July 1, 2018 at US Consulate General Residency. Event was an hour-long indoor team building activity followed by 1.5 hours long Football skills clinic.
Sports Envoys are athletes and coaches who travel overseas to lead programs that were developed by U.S. embassies and consulates. These American coaches and athletes held sports clinics for young people and their coaches, participate in community outreach activities, and engage youth in a dialogue on the importance of leadership and respect for diversity.
