The worldwide problems associated with air pollution are environmental hazards to human health. In addition, it negatively affects the climate, biodiversity, and ecosystems, as well as the quality of life. The improved air quality will benefit our health, development, and environment. WAFA promotes low-cost, low-tech, high-impact nature-based solutions that can make a significant global impact on improving our air quality.
92% of our world is exposed to polluted air, causing about 7 million premature deaths every year. For a long, air pollution has been identified as the greatest environmental health risk. All major air pollutants affect the climate, and most of them are linked to greenhouse gases (GHGs), in particular those produced from fossil fuels. By eliminating sources of emissions and focusing on sustainable solutions, air pollution can dramatically decrease.
WAFA shines a light on committed individuals and teams whose nature-based solutions are successfully leveraging natural resources and local materials solving this world's environmental problems TODAY. The purpose of WAFA is to help previously unsung "silent heroes" replicate their solutions and collaborate with governments and communities to combat air pollution and provide clean air for everyone.
Increasing publicity will enable projects that could not take off earlier because of a lack of resources to scale up and replicate. WAFA's job is to identify and promote outstanding sustainability entrepreneurs in the area of water, air, and food worldwide. These "silent heroes" beat the odds to develop breakthrough solutions for the poor and forgotten. We are working hard to find 'silent heroes' in remote and not so remote areas and tell their stories for the world to know and act.
