Data from the 2020 Humanitarian Needs Overview show that overall, 11.1 million people are in need of some form of humanitarian assistance. More than eighty per cent of the population is estimated to live under the poverty line, with 69 percent below the extreme poverty line, and 35 percent unable to meet their basic needs for survival in the whole of Syria.
The priority needs in Northwest of Syria were livelihood 66%, 72% basic needs, and 59% food as mentioned in the Humanitarian needs Assessment Programme (HNAP) report 2021. Families especially women-headed house across Syria are under unprecedented economic pressures. Food prices have soared, and the cost of staple foods is now higher than one year ago. High unemployment rates coexisted with mismatches in the labour market and a high prevalence of low- quality and low productivity jobs.
