Support 200 vulnerable Syrian women entrepreneurs

Data from the 2020 Humanitarian Needs Overview show that overall, 11.1 million people are in need of some form of humanitarian assistance. More than eighty per cent of the population is estimated to live under the poverty line, with 69 percent below the extreme poverty line, and 35 percent unable to meet their basic needs for survival in the whole of Syria.

The priority needs in Northwest of Syria were livelihood 66%, 72% basic needs, and 59% food as mentioned in the Humanitarian needs Assessment Programme (HNAP) report 2021. Families especially women-headed house across Syria are under unprecedented economic pressures. Food prices have soared, and the cost of staple foods is now higher than one year ago. High unemployment rates coexisted with mismatches in the labour market and a high prevalence of low- quality and low productivity jobs. Also, Sharp devaluation of the Syrian Pound in 2020 and an ongoing economic crisis are further eroding the resilience of both local and host communities

By your support and donations, Mercy Without Limits field team has the opportunity to support women entrepreneurs in different methods through:

•  Provide technical vocational training such sewing & kitting for the most vulnerable women such widows, divorced & those without breadwinner in MWL center.

About 100 persons benefited (20 women trained) have now sustainable & safe income generation and the ability to engage the labor market.

Your support reached also 100 family members through the following:

•  MWL team conducted need assessment in Idleb sub-district to determine the most vulnerable groups of women.
•  MWL secure all the raw materials required by the entrepreneurs such canvas, scissors, wool, and materials for homemade to start or recover their businesses.
•  MWL also provided average 200$ as micro grant though cash voucher modality to the entrepreneurs to market their products and reach the customers. Taking into account, the family numbers, protection concerns in the family, and the disability cases.

Those women considered the only breadwinner in their families where the raw materials will support them to have sustainable income generation.
