Thanks to your generosity, Global Water Challenge (GWC) and women for water are supporting Aqua Africa’s work to provide clean water to the community of Maiwut, South Sudan.
Clean water access is critical to community health in Maiwut. According to Dr. Gatluak Wuol of Maiwut Medical Clinic, in 2021 alone, diarrhea and other water borne illnesses from consuming river and pond water were linked to 24 deaths of Maiwut residents.
That is why we are working hard to bring clean water to 10,000 people, 2 schools and 1 health clinic. Powered by solar energy, the project will also supply electricity to the schools and health clinic.
The project is making great progress. We are pleased to share that the raw materials, including the steel water towers, have arrived in Maiwut and construction will officially begin in the coming months.
Again, thank you for your support! Because of you, we are able to provide clean water access and electricity to South Sudanese who need it most.
