Dear Supporters,
Over the last 3 months our teams have been busy utilising GVI Trust funds to continue renovations and upgrades to education facilities, build student desks, and makeover learning spaces.
With little to no weather restrictions lately our teams have been busy improving the environment that students learn in. This goes a long way to improving their educational outcomes and engages them in learning in a way they hadn’t been able to before.
By investing in these upgrades we are physically investing in the futures of these young scholars and providing them with more tools to succeed.
An intern led the planning and oversaw the renovation of a small room at one of our partner schools, turning it into a library where lessons can be taught to eager students. Our construction team built shelving and storage units to house books, and the walls were freshly painted, adding a mural of a learning tree.
A love of music is something that is instilled at a very young age in many of us, and here in Nepal it is very much a connection to culture and heritage. With that in mind, a music room at the Tibetan School, which we helped to build last year, is now in its final stages of completion. We have been busy building storage shelving for instruments and cementing an area outside the room to use for traditional Tibetan dance practise. It is very special to see the pride in the face of the community for these spaces which they know will serve as strong bridges for the creativity and culture of their young.
With the assistance of one of our participants we have designed sturdy, durable student desks, complete with a storage ledge underneath. These will make sure that as well as having a desk to sit at, students will be comfortable and not cramped. Also built were a number of desks for teachers, so that they had somewhere to mark papers and assist students throughout lessons.
We continue to support the daily meals at the Boy’s Home and Male Patan Early Childhood Education Centre through the GVI trust. This is a really important part of our support for them and ensures that nutritional meals are being provided for young minds.
As the year is just beginning we feel so fortunate to work with such collaborative partners who are always so responsive to working with us. We are also incredibly grateful to have the support of such eager donor’s, fundraisers and supporters, without who, we would not be able to complete any of the work mentioned above. It truly is a privilege to be able to work in the way that we do and we thank you for your support in this. We look forward to welcoming new and existing funders into our journey this year.
With Gratitude,
GVI Nepal
