Project Report | Dec 3, 2024
Education Fighting Poverty

By Tyrone Bennett | Project Leader

Happy December!

This is our last update for 2024, what a year it has been. Many people struggled with the rise of cost of living, wars, fires, floods all around the world. We have all had to face some challenging times. Here in Nepal we have invested every single dollar donated this year into the rural schools around Pokhara to help fund critical supplies and stationery for the school. With your support we have helped over 6 primary schools provide better resources to enhance the basic education they currently are able to provide. This is just a start, we need more schools, more teachers and more resources to really give these children a fighting chance.
Donating resources to educational initiatives in Nepal will have a significant, lasting impact on the country's education system, especially considering the challenges we faces. When you donate, you're not just contributing money — you're helping to provide essential tools and services that can improve access to quality education. In 2025 and beyond we will begin to raise funds that will help us kick start the following:
1. Improving School Infrastructure
  • Building Schools and Classrooms: Many schools in rural Nepal are overcrowded, dilapidated, or entirely absent in certain remote areas. Donations will help build new schools or repair damaged ones, ensuring that children have a safe, functional space in which to learn these are large costs and we hope to raise more next year to assist.
  • Providing Basic Amenities: We want to start to provide vital infrastructure such as clean water, electricity, proper sanitation facilities, and libraries. These improvements are essential for creating a conducive learning environment and ensuring that students stay healthy and engaged in their studies.
  • School Supplies: We will continue to provide stationery, textbooks, educational kits, and other learning materials as these can significantly reduce the financial burden on families and schools. It ensures that students have the necessary tools to succeed in their studies.
2. Supporting Teacher Training
  • Improving Teacher Quality: In rural areas, many teachers lack the proper training, resources, or even motivation to provide quality education. Donations can fund teacher training programs, helping educators gain essential skills and modern teaching techniques that can improve student outcomes.
  • Providing Teaching Aids: Many schools in Nepal struggle to provide adequate teaching aids (e.g., posters, charts, projectors, and digital resources). Donations can help ensure that teachers have the necessary materials to make learning more engaging and effective.
3. Promoting Gender Equality in Education
  • Scholarships for Girls: Donations can fund scholarships and educational programs that specifically target girls, helping to overcome the social, cultural, and economic barriers they face in accessing education. Providing financial assistance can reduce the burden on families, especially in areas where girls are often expected to stay at home and help with household chores or marry early.
  • Gender-Sensitive Educational Programs: Charitable contributions can support programs that specifically focus on changing community attitudes toward girls’ education, as well as offering mentorship and empowerment programs to help girls remain in school and complete their education.

In conclusion, we have lots to do and some really exciting iniitatives for the future, however we want to thank you for your support in 2024.
