The devastating floods in Afghanistan on July 15, 2024, have severely impacted Teach for Afghanistan (TAO) placement areas in Nangarhar province, destroying homes of our students, our alumni, our fellows, fellow coach and our partner schools, affecting hundreds of students and staff. TAO is raising $60,000 for relief efforts to support education continuity. TAO's regional team conducted door-to-door assessment and found out damages to 102 students, 6 partner schools and 10 team members.
The floods in Afghanistan have displaced thousands, destroyed schools, and devastated poor farming families' livelihoods. 91.67% of children's education is disrupted, and many are traumatized from losing their homes and schools. Amidst ongoing socio-economic struggles, recovery is challenging without external aid. Teach for Afghanistan urgently needs financial support to provide relief and ensure children's education continues despite these hardships.
Your donations will Teach for Afghanistan address the challenges from the floods through a comprehensive plan: - 50% of funds will repair and rebuild schools in Nangarhar, Laghman, and Parwan, aiding 20,000 children. - 20% of funds will provide essential materials and disaster awareness, benefiting children who lost everything. - Special Programs will offer psychological counseling and training for 10,000 students. - 18 centres to ensure uninterrupted education.
Your contribution will ensure educational continuity for Afghan students, preventing a generation from falling behind and fostering a brighter future. By rebuilding schools and supporting education, we enhance community resilience and empower recovery, while educating locals on disaster preparedness. Educated children will grow into capable adults who positively impact their communities and nation. Additionally, providing psycho-social support helps children overcome trauma & enhance well-being.
