Dear Readers,
In August 2022, MAITS signed partnership with the HANDS in Pakistan to train their Community Health Workers (CHWs) called Marvi workers in three different cities. MAITS organised 3 different rounds of training to train 15 CHWs in each round. The trainings were delivered by 3 teams of local MAITS Master trainers who committed their time and expertise to train the CHWs. The CHWs are expected to support 200+ children with special needs in Pakistan by working with their caregivers in a years time.
Training in Karachi: 22nd Aug- 31st Aug 2022
There were teething issues due to the flood situation in Pakistan and dates had to be rescheduled. MAITS Director of Operations, Sadia was in Karachi at the time and visited the training in person to access the delivery and arrangements. The training was delivered by MAITS Master trainers employed by ACELP, Karachi. Sana kainat and Rafia Suleman showed sheer determination to deliver a week long in person training to the Community Health Workers in Karachi.
Training in Hyderabad: 30th Aug- 7th Sep 2022
This region was severly affected due to floods. With the trainers traveling locally, logistically it was managable to make quick changes. The training was delivered by MAITS Master Trainers in Hyderabad, Afshan Memon and Hafeez Punjani. The 15 CHWs trained will start home visits in December to support the families of children with special needs through MAITS packages.
Training in Multan: 20th Sep- 28th Sep 2022
The Multan training was conducted by MAITS Master Trainers traveling from Karachi and Islamabad, Ali Punjani and Bakhtawar Saleem. The training was successfully delivered to 15 Community Health Workers in Multan.
MAITS will start receiving the data of children receiving support from the 45 CHWs from December 2022 for 9 months. This data will help us analyse the changes in life experienced by the children and their families.
