In Cambodia, School Development Plans are produced annually and guide the School Support Committee’s activities and fundraising to support school improvements. Plans ensure that activities are in line with the Child Friendly School Policy which highlights the need for all children:
Activities vary based on the community’s needs and priorities but may include school enrolment campaigns; awareness campaigns on the value of education, providing materials for study clubs; and school environment improvements such as developing school gardens, building bicycle parking, and installing incinerators and a water system. Activities also support student clubs by providing materials and donating learning materials to poorer students.
Tea Ras*, Monk and an active School Support Committee member from Kauk Kandal commented:
"I am very happy to see the school more developing from day to day with strong supports from School Support Committee members, Student Council members and school principal for making fundraising, environment cleaning, toilets and school gardening, playgrounds looking nice and attractive to motivate children.” Teuk Lech school completed projects including building a 100 meters wooden school fence, purchasing 10 Asian National flags to hang in the school, re-building a four room toilet block, and planting 170 trees in their school area.
