Since February 2022, GFC has distributed more than $2.6 million to 70+ community-based organizations that are responding to the attack on Ukraine. GFC’s partners are providing hot food, warm winter clothing and gear, fuel, shelter, evacuation assistance and trauma support to children and families under attack in Ukraine and to refugees in seeking asylum in Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, and Serbia.
The past few months Ukraine has seen continued Russian attacks on infrastructure, with partners requesting funds for heating equipment and for safe spaces to keep children and their families out of the frigid temperatures. The rapidly changing context has resulted in a narrowing of the needs of our community partners on the ground - they are now prioritizing food supply, access to running water, medicine, generators, blankets, and gas heaters - the basic essentials they need in order for members of their community to survive.
Your support and GFC's flexible funding, which allows us to quickly move funds to where they are needed most, has been extremely crucial in helping our partners support children and their families during the difficult winter months. As the situation on the ground evolves, our partners will continue to remain agile to resond to the needs of those impacted by the crisis.
