The online curriculum (cnbGuatemala.org) is Online Learning Initiative's flagship activity. This year we learned how important it is, as teachers and students all went into quarantine. Fortunately we had been building website capacity and this year we expanded disk space, memory space, bandwidth and, most importantly, the number, range and quality of resources we offer teachers.
And it happened just in time. From 140,000 monthly visitors on average last year we went to over 200,000 this year. October saw us welcome more than 330,000 visitors! But numbers can feed vanity: the key question is how teachers use the resources available to them, especially in planning their classes. All this only gets harder when everything must happen online.
To start addresing that need this month we held two 2-session workshops. The first was with pedagogical advisors —the specialists that provide schoolteachers with direct support and training in the context of their day-to-day work. The second was with a group of teachers who applied through the website. Just in the first 2 days we received over 300 applications on Google Meet!
We learnt many important things about how to support teachers directly in using the website. But we need to continue refining the methodology. Above all we need to continue delivering trainings that will make teachers skilled users of the curriculum, the online educational resources and consequently help them better prepare for work in their classroom. Your contributions are critical to this effort. Please share this project description and the link below with your family, friends and colleagues, and help us find more friends to support our work.
