In many of our project areas, the word "menstruation" is still considered an insult, making open discussions on this essential topic challenging. This stigma around menstruation hinders young girls from understanding their own bodies and fosters numerous misconceptions.
To address this, our team has actively engaged with the community this quarter to dismantle this taboo and normalize menstruation.
We organized a series of stakeholder meetings, bringing together 250 influential leaders—including traditional, community, local government, and religious leaders, as well as parents and teachers—in three villages.
These discussions emphasized the importance of open communication about menstruation, and the leaders left as ambassadors of change, committed to making menstruation a respected and accepted topic in their communities.
